Sounds, Sounds, Everywhere! (3 types of digital media)

Majority of my weekend was spend inside my home tucked under my blanket doing what the average teen usually do. I didn’t do much but watched television, listened to the radio, played video games, and watched a movie. While I was at it I’ve listened to the sounds within each.

As for the T.V. shows I’ve decided to watch some were reruns of reality shows and Japanese anime. The sounds of each were different. The reality shows had most scenes were a song plays in the background when a situation were two people are talking about gets deep or emotional.rasheeda crying As for the Japanese anime I’ve watched, it had a lot of sound effects in it. It was based on magic so of course there would be different charm, casting, and chant sounds in the background. As for the fighting scenes, there were effects of punching, kicking, etc.natsu-dragneel_thumb[1]

The radio stations I listened to were Rock stations (101.1 Q101, 95.1 WIIL Rock). Of course with rock music you expect to hear “rock hard” sounds. Well some songs were heavy pitched with metal guitars and drum kits while others were a little more on the lighter, calm side with acoustic alternative rock beats that weren’t as aggressive. The audio of the voice production was deep and had a strange scream to it.

The movie i watched was an old favorite, Friday. Not a lot of effects was going on but when Craig got “high” he heard things slower and echo like around him. It just had regular sounds like gun shots, car engines, sounds related to the environment and what was going on at the moment.

As for the video games I played the sound effects related to the ancient concepts related to the 1100’s and, again, gun shots. Broken glass and crates goes with actions being performed in the environment at the time in the game.

As these are the few things that relates to digital media that I have listened to carefully over the weekend.

The Story of the Wild Ones

ImageBlack Veil Brides album “Wretched and Divine: The Story of the Wild Ones” was released in January 2013. By far, in my opinion, this album is the best one the band has released so far in their career. The album has a total of 19 songs all considered to be “Goth Rock.” I have listened to every song and these are the descriptions:

“Exordium” length 0:25

This short recording basically says that one is with God. Inside and out. God is within nature and everything. The production quality has a suspense like as though one is entering into the spirit world out of peace.

“I Am Bulletproof” length 3:34

This song had a metal core sound to it. It basically explains that you can go through and conquer anything you want because you are strong at the heart and soul and nothing can defeat you.

“New Year’s Day” length 3:25

A basic melody that tells of one becoming anew on a new year. Counting down to knowing your true inner self from the insecurities of your current being. Unlike the second track, it has a Post-Metal beat to it which gives off a peaceful sensation to most Gothic or emo kids.

“F.E.A.R. Transmission 1: Stay Close” length 0:35

The violins and transmitter audio tells of a battle for humanity and only the truth will lead you to survival. This gives away a sense of security to all of the followers of the F.E.A.R. organization.

“Wretched and Divine” length 3:37

Living in a chaotic world where anything will bow down to destruction. Lets you know that you are a hero and can bring an end to this global chaos of sinister and darkness.

“We Don’t Belong” length 3:36

A song that only explains one being sent to hell and wants to make way to heaven. Feeling that you don’t belong in the gates of heaven so you feel into the pits of hell.

“F.E.A.R. Transmission 2: Trust” length 0:20

Explains to the audience that the enemy claims that it’s new world is upon us. In order to prevent their rise, one must trust in the truth.

“Devil’s Choir” length 2:57

Searching for the right explanation but the only thing you can do is accept your failure and move on.

“Resurrect the Sun” length 4:34

Tells of one being in the darkness and wishes to get out. Their only way through is by the light and the sun.

This is the first half of the album that tells of hope. Image

“Overture” (Instrumental) length 1:38

A beautiful violin melody that soothes one into having faith during the battle of both ends, the truth and the lie.

“Shadows Die” length 5:25

Lets one know that the shadows is the safest place you can be from shattering into your weakest point and giving into the enemies lies of corruption and destruction.

“Abeyance” length 0:14

Says that its being is in desperate need for a god to rule over them.

“Days Are Numbered” length 3:40

One would rather count down the days to victory instead of being someones fool.

“Done For You” length 2:33

Has more of a relaxing tone to it, a more acoustic style and relaxed vocals. This tells the listener that everything is at its ends and will all be over very soon.

“Nobody’s Hero” length 3:35

You are your own protector and can solve most of your problems on your own. No one really can’t depend on you because you’re too into freeing and saving yourself.

“Lost It All” length 5:20

The title explains it all. You had everything you wanted and need for you to succeed and survive but you lost it all for being too into yourself.

“F.E.A.R. Transmission 3: As War Fades” length 0:58

You are almost at defeat but refuse to give up. So you vow to not let anything keep you from reaching where you’re going.

“In The End” length 3:48

My favorite song out of every track! It tells that one will do anything in the end as long as they get to where they’re going and doesn’t care if they die in the end doing so.

“F.E.A.R. Final Transmission” length 0:54

At the end of the day, the path you took led to failure. It all lead to darkness and a new world order that humanity will suffer in.

The reason why i chose this album is because it speaks to me the most about myself and i can relate to almost the whole album and its meanings.Image

He was influenced by several bands and artist such as Prodigy, Nine Inch Nails, Aphex Twin, etc. when he was forteen, he would dabble with electronic tracks such as fruity loops. He never saw genre as a restriction in music because he really didn’t care about that. His current sound is a mix of dubstep, electro, and glitch all thrown together. A good example of this is his hit song Scary Monsters and Nice Spirits. He believes it is important to be self sufficient as an artist. Skrillex doesn’t just stand as an electronic dance musician, he is changing the music industry as well. He believes in and loves the music he makes. All it took was thousands to download his first album for him to continue to make music because he was inspired to move on by his fans as a whole.

He moved back to his hometown at twelve were he then enrolled in a private academy specialized in the arts. By forteen he was home schooled due to bullying. He learned he was adopted when he was sixteen. He would attend punk gigs in Mexican American neighborhoods in south and east Los Angeles then later at electro club raves downtown.

In 2012, Skrillex was dating the woman who performed vocals on his track Summit for this album Bangarang. They split up later in 2012 because they couldn’t make their long distance relationship work.
